Tradesman Tips
When cutting fibre cement weatherboards of flat sheet around the Flashman Sill, always use a Jigsaw fitted with JA10) Jigsaw blades which cut through FC like butter.
Pre-Installation Checklist
- Pan head mitre screws must be located on the sides of the window or doors (not at the top or bottom).
- If counter sunk screws are used they can be placed at the sides or top of the joinery without affecting the fitting of the Flashman Window and Door Flashing System.
- Building wrap fitted. Flashing tape fitted. Windows air sealed as per E2/AS1.
- There must be 25mm from the exterior face of the building frame to the back of the window or door flange when using a 20mm cavity batten.
- If different sized cavity battens are to be used contact Flashman 0800 55 66 00 or email your nearest Flashman Distributor.
- If a Rigid Air Barrier is used then the 25mm is measured from the face of the RAB board NOT the framing.
- Read and understand Important Design Considerations including the Technical Drawings which refer to minimum clearances for internal and external corners.
Window Installation
- Flashman installers fit the battens behind the Flashman Window and Door flashing System. The rest of the battens are fitted by the builder or cladding system installer as per standard practice to suit the cladding type.
- Install Mitre soakers supplied by Flashman as per the drawing below. Note the front edge of the Mitre soaker is positioned hard up to the outside of the framing line.
- Windows and doors must be installed level, straight, and plumb to enable the Flashman Flashing System to be installed.
- Use the Flashman supplied packer to ensure the back of the Aluminium window and door flanges are spaced the required 25mm from the outside face of the framing.
- The Flashman sill supports the window or door. There is no need to fit any other support.
- Head flashings are not required from the window manufacturer. Flashman provides and installs their complete Window and Door Flashing System which includes a cavity closure at the head.
- Where applicable Flashman has allowed for Garage Head and Jamb flashings. Please fit door reveal (fascia) with the back of the reveal groove 18mm out from the external face of the garage door framing.

Cladding Installation
Ensure that the fixing of cladding around the Flashman Flashing System is in strict accordance with the specified Flashman tolerances as shown in the photographs below.
Warning!
Failure to correctly install the cladding in accordance with Flashman Instructions will result in the refusal of the Flashman Distributor to issue the producer Statement or the Installation Warranty. The concequences of incorrect cladding installation will be the full liability of the cladding installer and Flashman will take no responsibility for any sloppy workmanship.
