Benefits

Benefits of Using the Flashman Window and Door flashing System

  1. The Flashman Window and Door Flashing System (FFS) is proudly NZ designed, Manufactured and fabricated to precisely fit each individual window or door and then installed exclusively by Approved Flashman Distributor/Installers.
  2. The FFS has been tested in weathertightness booths over three years of development to verify NZBC performance in wind pressures and rain exceeding 232KPH. Designed to suit extreme conditions.
  3. The FFS has been used as the window and door flashing system on numerous leaky building remediations throughout NZ.
  4. Rated Specific Engineered Design.
  5. The DBH has identified that 50% of the leaks in leaky homes occur at the window and door openings. Flashman eliminates these leaks.
  6. Replaces PVC mouldings (note mouldings not flashings) in monolithic claddings that are the cause of cracking and leaks at the bottom of windows.
  7. Saves time and money. The cost of designing, measuring, ordering, collecting and or delivery, installation, fitting of tapes, Wanz support bars and labour costs associated with flashing windows and doors are often overlooked.
  8. Designed for residential and light commercial usage.
  9. Compatible and approved with a wide range of Cladding types including Plastered Polystyrene, James Hardie, Nu-Wall, Celcrete, Palliside, Putz Technic, Solid Plaster, Sto, Rockcote, Plaster Systems, Acratex, Weatherboard, Ply and others.
  10. 50 year serviceable life.
  11. The Flashman sill supports heavy double glazed windows and doors now specified to meet new H1 insulation requirements.
  12. The sill also acts as an excellent drip edge avoiding grime and staining that often occurs under windows and doors.
  13. No scribers needed where weatherboard is fitted although the FFS is compatible with the use of facings and scribers if the traditional look is preferred.
  14. Leaks in the window or door mitres are taken care of with the Flashman mitre soakers that forms part of the FFS. Even if the window itself leaks the system prevents any damage to the framing.
  15. No distortion of the flashings due to strong 1.3mm thick extrusion.
  16. Minimal maintenance required.
  17. Not reliant on sealants.
  18. Very cost effective.
  19. Installation of the cladding is faster and easier.
  20. The window and doors are fitted followed by the FFS and then the cladding, making for faster and easier enclosure of the building. Faster enclosure provides a significant cost saving for the builder or developer.
  21. Removes the accountability, responsibility and liability for leaks at the window and door openings re leaky building claims.
  22. The FFS is a foolproof system fitted by trained personnel providing an advanced flashing system far superior to the leak prone current Palliside flashings.
  23. Compatible without facings or with facings for the traditional weatherboard look.
  24. The head flashing includes a cavity closure.
  25. Head flashings and sills installed with friction fitted aluminium stop ends and sill end caps to ensure against leaks.
  26. Only one size window and door reveal required regardless of the Type of cladding used.
  27. Powder coated to match or contrast with the windows or doors.
  28. Modern long term solution to the ever increasing problem of achieving weathertightness at the window and door openings.
  29. Uses a cavity system which provides essential risk management for cladding manufacturers in an industry that is progressively losing skilled builders.
  30. 10 year Installation Warranty.
  31. 15 year Product Warranty.
  32. Producer Statement for the BCA.
