Flashman have invented the Flashman Flashings System to overcome the problem of leaks at the cladding junction with aluminium windows and doors. The patented Flashman Window and Door Flashings System is proudly NZ owned. The system was designed by New Zealanders for our unique and demanding climate. The flashings are factory fabricated to precisely fit each individual window or door and then installed exclusively by Flashman Distributor/Installers, providing an advanced flashing system far superior to the NZ Building Code Minimum standard requirements.

For the first time since the introduction of aluminium joinery in NZ approx 40 years ago, there is now a robust, good looking, long term complete flashings system, specifically designed and Branz Appraised to overcome the problematic aluminium joinery to cladding junction. 15 year product warranty, 10 year installation warranty and a Producer Statement for the Council. The Flashman Flashings System is tested and approved up to hurricane wind speeds of 232 kph rating the system above anything on the market.

Why Flashman should be fitted to every building

50% of leaks in leaky homes occur around the window and door cladding junctions (Dept. of Building and Housing). Houses and buildings are still being constructed today using sealants as the main method of flashing around windows and doors. Improper use of sealants is the direct cause of many very expensive remedial repairs.

Sealant has failed as an alternative to a full metal flashings system. Building industry skills have fallen drastically and many tradesmen can no longer be depended upon to flash around aluminium windows and doors correctly. The Licensed Builders Practitioners scheme is designed to make designers and builders liable, not competent.

There was, and still is, a major weathertightness issue with the cladding to window junctions in buildings that causes serious leaks to occur. This is why the Flashman System was invented .
